Harrow Steel Orchestra Opens The Annual Concerts
Yesterday afternoon in the Pinner Memorial park we had the delights of listening to the Harrow Steel Orchestra. The weather was very kind to us (I had given up looking at the local forecast)
Comments gathered on my way round were that they were very good and professional. I spotted people foot tapping to the music.
It’s great to see a community coming together whether as volunteers or as the audience with their guests to enjoy this event. I know that some of the visitors to the Heath Robinson Museum stayed on to enjoy the concert.
Next week is the turn of Fats Rollini Jazz & Blues Band.

Harrow Steel Orchestra kick off our Free Annual Band Concerts at 2:30pm on Sunday 30 July.
This will be in the Pinner Memorial Park near the Heath Robinson Museum. Free car parking is available in Chapel Lane car park.
(Please don’t park in the Business Users Bays as you could get a ticket)
Some chairs will be available for hire but do bring your own and a picnic.

Pinner Station to be sold!
After years of having Pinner Police Station front desk run by volunteers, we have discovered that it is listed on the consultation document as one of those police buildings that would be disposed of.
This would mean no local police station. The purpose-built police station which is a grade II listed building has been in use for over 100 years, with the cells ceasing to be used in 1964.

Summer Band Concerts 2017
Yes, It’s nearly that time of year again!
After a year’s gap we are pleased to announce that Harrow Steel Orchestra will be kicking off the Annual Concerts in The Park.
Although there will be some chairs to rent, please feel free to bring your own and don’t forget your picnic. The concert will start at 2:30pm on 30 July.
Looking back through The Villager magazine, I believe that this is our 16th season. (Let me know if I’m wrong!)
PWS Update
We have spoken to Daniel Lester – Head of Communications for Harrow Council and been informed of the following:-
- Work to fill in the chalk mine voids is nearing completion for the ‘bulk filling’ stage.
- Next stage is to apply the ‘grouting’ to the holes.
The good news is that they are ahead of schedule. The council is on target to have the school back on its site for the Spring Term.
A formal update from Harrow Council is expected towards the end of next week.
Pinner Memorial Park – Retains Green Flag Status
Pinner Memorial Park has retained its Green Flag Status
Cllr Graham Henson, cabinet member for environment expressed his “delight” at the award,
He said: “Our parks and open spaces are loved and enjoyed by all our residents and we are absolutely delighted that five of our parks once again received Green Flag Awards.
“I’d like to thank all volunteers and staff who have worked extremely hard to keep our parks and open spaces to a high standard so that they can be enjoyed and used by everyone.”
International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd added: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.
“Each flag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.
“The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people.”
