A new telephone scam is coming to light …. callers contact residents saying they are from the NHS Track & Trace service telling the resident that they have been in contact with someone suffering from COVID-19 and need to have a test sent out to them.
This is swiftly followed with a request for the resident’s bank details; the caller stating the test & results cost £500. Please do not fall for this scam. If you need a test sent out to you because you are unable to attend a test site, this is done for free, both via delivery & collection, followed up by the result.

Both these businesses might be closed under the current COVID-19 restrictions but this hasn’t stopped them ensuring that the High Street is in bloom.
Sean White, Landlord of the Queens Head, has kindly taken the horse trough, previously planted up by a Pinner Association volunteer, under his wings and has had it planted up to complement the hanging baskets on the front of his historic pub in the High Street. Sean has managed to connect the horse trough to the automatic watering system for the hanging baskets, so we can expect a wonderfully colourful display all summer whatever the weather.
Fridolin’s has also had their hanging baskets, window boxes and tubs replanted, making the front of this Listed building even more attractive for all.

Dear Watch Member,
Over the weekend a burglary occurred at a ground-floor flat in The Chequers, West End Lane.
This opportunistic burglary was committed at some point during the night after entry was gained via an open / unlocked window.
Car keys left in view of the window were stolen which resulted in a car being stolen. A purse with debit / credit cards inside was also taken.
– Please do not forget to close and lock all of your downstairs’ windows if you leave your home, and before retiring to bed;
– Keep house / car keys and other valuables away from and not in easy reach of an open window;
– Affix a steering wheel lock to your vehicle.

Yes, I’m late. Birthday celebrations and at last being able to see my father for the first time since February got in the way.
This week saw the announcement that the annual Band Concerts in the Park that we organise have been cancelled. For those of you that missed the post – this is why.
“Unfortunately we have made the tough decision to cancel this year’s Band Concerts. Harrow Council has banned all events on public land for the foreseeable future. The Bands wouldn’t be able to practice and lastly we took a pragmatic view that when the lockdown is eased, it might be a while before large gatherings are again permitted. Don’t worry, like Pinner Fair, this is a one off occurrence. Hopefully normal service will continue next year and we can all enjoy music wafting across the park.”
