Headstone Manor & Museum Closed due to Covid-19.

Statement from Headstone Manor & Museum:

Following recent Government advice, Headstone Manor & Museum will be closed to the public from close of play Wednesday 18th March until further notice.  This decision has been made with the best interests of our customers and visitors in mind.  We will be reviewing the situation at the end of April.

We are looking at exciting ways you can enjoy the museum and our activities online and will announce some plans very shortly!

Over the next few days we will be in contact with all of our customers who have booked the Great Barn for their special occasion.  We’re a small team so please bear with us but be assured that we will contact everyone.  Covid-19 will have significant financial implications for Headstone Manor & Museum and we are asking our Great Barn clients to consider postponing their event to a future date.  If this option is unsuitable for any customers, we will offer a refund.

Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we continue to work closely with our community.

Northern Cycle Route Scheme Proposals – Barrow Point Avenue / Woodhall Avenue

Harrow Council are currently consulting on a proposed Northern Cycle Route scheme.

The Northern Cycle Route scheme proposals aim to provide a safer, more direct and more attractive cycle connection between Pinner, Hatch End, Headstone and Edgware.  The proposals are a mixture of segregated, advisory and quiet sections of route.

In the Pinner area the only change to the current physical roads and footways (pavements) lay out and parking restrictions would be:

Barrow Point Avenue / Woodhall Avenue:

The existing unregistered land connecting Woodhall Avenue, Barrow Point Lane and Barrow Point Avenue is currently used by pedestrians.  In the interest of general public, the council proposes to provide a 2.5m wide shared use footway for use by pedestrians and cycles.  Double yellow “no parking at any times” parking restrictions would be installed at the dead end of Woodhall Avenue.

The proposals include clearing off unnecessary vegetation and provide bollards to prevent vehicle access across the two roads.  The proposal will provide a key connection on the proposed cycle route connecting Pinner and Uxbridge Road.

The Public Consultation continues up to the 14th of February and the link to the Harrow Council consultation website is: https://consult.harrow.gov.uk/consult.ti/northcycle/consultationHome

Planning Application for telecom monopole in West End Avenue.

There is a current planning application for the installation of a 15m high monopole supporting 6 antennas and 3 dishes (3G And 4G) and the installation of 6 equipment cabinets in West End Avenue, near to the junction with Marsh Road:

This monopole would replace the monopole and cabinets currently in situ in front of the “Churchill Retirement Flats” in Marsh Road.

The planning application may be viewed on the Harrow Council Planning Services website:

https://planningsearch.harrow.gov.uk/planning/search-applications

using the “Application Number” reference:  P/3805/19

The planning application is out for the statutory public consultation and comments may be entered on the website for this application.   Any comments should be submitted to Harrow Council by 24th January 2020.

The affected roads in Pinner South are sections of:

Waxwell Lane Car Park Development – Update on planned work on the site.

Development Site

The Pinner Association is being briefed at regular meetings with the Project Manager and Contractor (AMCM) for the development of twenty three storey mews style houses on the site of the now closed Waxwell Lane car park.

We have been informed that the work to strip the old tarmac off the areas of the site to be built upon is to start next week (the week beginning 9th December 2019).  This will involve the movement of two large lorries in and out of the site per day, and these vehicles will approach and leave Waxwell Lane via Bridge Street.

In January the piling work will start for a period of approximately two weeks, and this may cause some noise audible outside the site.  Work will not start before 8 am and will end by 6 pm (Monday to Friday) and 1 pm (Saturday).

When very large equipment is being manoeuvred on and off the site the parking bays outside the Police Station in Waxwell Lane will be temporarily suspended.

The AMCM  have assured us that they will be abiding by the requirements of the “Considerate Constructors Scheme”.

Remembrance Sunday Service 10th November 2019

The sun shone brightly on Pinner High Street this morning where a large crowd gathered at the War Memorial to attend the Remembrance Sunday Service, observe the two minute silence and see wreaths laid by representatives from local government, the armed services, the local police and fire service, local community organisations and the local scouts and guides and schools.

The Pinner Association assisted the United Services Club in the organisation of this annual act of remembrance, and we wish to particularly thank Caroline Ennis, our volunteer who so kindly undertook much of the administration for the event.

Bridge Street Gardens

Volunteers from the Pinner Association have, with the consent of Harrow Council, renovated a disused “flower bed” in the Bridge Street Gardens in central Pinner.   The bed was dug over and weeded and the soil was found to be in pleasingly good condition.   A selection of evergreen flowering shrubs and plants and spring flowering bulbs have been now been planted, which we hope will grow into a compact display which will enhance this small but important open space for many years to come.   Our volunteers will continue to maintain this bed, as we do for the Pinner Station flower beds.

The plant list for the new bed is:

  • Choisya ternata
  • Choisya ternata “Sundance”
  • Choisya x dewitteana “Aztec Gold”
  • Choisya x dewitteana  “White Dazzler”
  • Yucca gloriosa variegata
  • Chamaecyparis pisifera filifera nana
  • Ophiophogon planiscapus “Nigrescens”
  • Narcissus “Jetfire”
  • Narcissus “Minnow”

All the costs of the planting were paid by Pinner Association funds, which come from our members’ annual subscriptions.  Details of how you can become a member and help us to continue to enhance life in Pinner may be found on the Membership pages of this website.
