DESCRIPTION:The annual St. George’s Day celebrations are organised by Pinner Rotary and are held in Pinner Village High Street on a Sunday in April close to St George’s Day which falls on April 23rd. The picturesque High Street is closed to traffic for the day and transformed into a family friendly venue for celebrating the patron saint of England\, St George. \nFor a typical St George’s Day event\, the celebrations begin with the Mayor of Harrow leading a parade of District Scouts to the War Memorial where the Scouts renew their Promise in the presence of the District Commissioner. \nThe High Street is filled with entertainment for everyone with performers\, stalls and activities. Local organisations raise funds for projects and charities while the local restaurants offer a wide variety of food and drink. \nEntertainment usually includes bellringing in the Parish Church\, folk dancing\, live music\, Punch & Judy\, children’s rides and games\, face painting\, food stalls and much more! \nThe highlight of the celebrations is always The Wheelbarrow Race\, a unique Pinner event in which teams of two take it in turns to push their partner in a wheelbarrow\, drink beer and race round the streets of Pinner.
