There are three works by Austrian composers:  the Little Organ Mass St Joannis de Deo is a wonderful distillation of Haydn’s sparkling style and\, in contrast but also from the Classical period\, Mozart’s sublime motet\, Ave Verum Corpus\, is well-known for its serene beauty.  Moving into the early Romantic era\, Schubert’s Mass in G is a short setting of the liturgy in his characteristically melodious and expressive style. \n“This music is very rewarding to sing\,” says HCS Chair Margaret Davies\, “Each piece has its own distinctive character but all are wonderfully tuneful.
