SUMMARY:Remixology: The Art of Ketna Patel
DESCRIPTION:‘Often referred to as Asia’s answer to Andy Warhol\, Ketna Patel is a highly prolific British-Indian mixed media Artist. \nHer Art is colourful\, global\, multi cultural and brimming with energy\, wit and valuable insights into our everyday world.’ \nHaving lived in Kenya\, U.K\, Singapore and India\, she has been widely acclaimed for converting her Global insights into a compelling visual vocabulary that has injected a fresh counter expression to the predominantly western dominated narrative of world art. Using different cultures and historical events\, she juxtaposes mythological characters\, Gods\, political icons and the common man on the same canvas. There is a fresh romance between the old and the new\, breaking through stringent cultural\, political\, and class boundaries that have dominated the world for centuries. \nHer collaborations have ranged from Bollywood’s IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) and Hollywood’s Director Spike Lee to corporate giants like TATA\, SONY & KIEHLS. In 2011\, Tata Motors (India) commissioned her to convert one of their ‘Nano’ Cars into a work of Art\, which she did using Italian glass mosaic by SICIS. Ketna’s artwork has been licensed to fashion companies\, carpet houses\, furniture makers\, book\, and album covers\, and regularly been donated for fund raising initiatives from UNICEF\, Elephant Parade & AWARE and more. \nShare this:\n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email

SUMMARY:The Metropolitan Railway during the First World War by Richard Dennis
DESCRIPTION:When World War I broke out the Metropolitan Railway was made subject to government control. Central Government wanted railways to save fuel by reducing train services\, but passenger numbers increased as families moved out of London. The Railway lost staff to military service and employed women in more roles. The company’s tracks through central London assumed major strategic importance for troop movements and freight between channel ports and the north. \n  \nVisitors welcome\, suggested donation £3 \nShare this:\n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email
